Aktaş Group, operating in petroleum, petroleum derivatives and petrochemical sectors since early 1990s, is today a highly important local actor. Rexoil Petrochemical Company under Aktaş Group is one of the top players of the sector with its two brands: Rexoil and Apex. Company headquarters is in Istanbul-Kozyatağı, and manufacturing facilities in Tuzla Organized Industrial Zone. Chairman of the Board Mr. Mustafa Aktaş told us the success story of Aktaş Group on its quest to become not only a petrochemical product supplier but also a manufacturer.
Let’s begin with Rexoil’s history in lubricant production…
Foundations of our company were laid with a vision to make it a driving force for the petrochemical sector and national economic growth. Rexoil was established to focus our operations on lubricants used in the automotive sector and construction equipment and on industrial oils used in plants. As a lubricant production center established on a 12 thousand square land with an innovative R&D department, equipment pool using latest technologies, high-capacity filling facilities and tanks, we are committed to adding value to our country.
Rexoil has one of top five lubricant manufacturing facilities in Turkey with its capacity of 60 thousand tons. We make substantial investment in R&D activities and offer innovative and reliable products to the sector.
Could you give us some information about your products, production capacity and market share?
Our motto is “Right product, quality service”. Quality is our starting point. We take this motto as our basis for everything we do. We are a part of Aktaş Group, Turkey’s largest base oil supplier. Therefore, we know at first hand that high quality engine and machine oil can only be produced using high quality base oil, and we carry out our operations with this understanding. Another most important element for high quality products is sufficient facility and technology. Today, we are listed among the top 5 companies in the sector with our production capacity of 60 thousand tons, accredited laboratory, and latest technology equipment pool. The third step is meeting international standards and OEM requirements.
Most of our products are OEM approved or in the approval process. As a local manufacturer, our primary goal in the Turkish market was to achieve the same recognition and brand perception of Aktaş Group with the Rexoil brand. We made it. We could rapidly expand in the market thanks to the difference and quality we offer. In this market, where supply is much higher, brands may compromise on quality in their competition. Therefore, consumers need an innovative and reliable brand which supports its products with technological investments, and has a command of marketing, sales and post-sales processes. We believe we have managed to meet this expectation with our production plant listed among top 5 plants in Turkey, and our robust and developed infrastructure. On the other hand, automotive sector’s primary demand from the lubricant sector is the provision of alternative products developed with the latest technology and meeting international standards. For this purpose, we are constantly analyzing the sector and supporting it with innovative products using our budget for R&D. This is another reason for preference for consumers.
What are Rexoil’s export products, markets and objectives?
As Rexoil, we attend all sector-related exhibitions and organizations to represent our company and country both in Turkey and abroad. We embrace the principle of increasing the export volume and contribute to the national economy. We export to 55 countries, our main export items are automotive and industrial products. Our companyactively continues its operations in terms of production as well as sales and marketing to further increase its share in the ever-changing and developing global market. We increased our export target to 70 countries within the framework of 3-year planning. At the same time, we aim to act as a supplier in various countries by cooperating with global brands. As part of our global branding strategy, we continue our branding initiatives in various countries. In this regard, we accelerated strategic steps with global brands which know our potential and want to use this potential in different countries.
How is your company’s organization structure in the new term? Ho you have any innovation objectives?
Rexoil Petrochemical continues its investments in brake fluid (DOT), antifreeze and lubricant automated filling machine, and equipment pool. Rexoil’s new investments make a huge contribution to its quest to become a world brand. We have expanded our equipment pool with automated filling machines for 100 ml-1000 ml bin brake fluid (DOT) (Flowmetric System/8); 1000 ml-7000 ml bin antifreeze (Time Controlled/8). Some of the largest filling facilities in Turkey have these new machines. In this process that we manage with huge budgets, we take firm steps to realize our goal of becoming a world brand. I would like to underline that Rexoil not only contributes to today’s production efficiency but also invests in tomorrow with these machines which are not even present in many prominent filling facilities. With this vision, this investment shows that Rexoil Petrochemical want to become a key player in the sector with a developed product technology and portfolio.
