In today’s rapidly evolving defence market, particularly in fast-growing regions like Türkiye, staying ahead requires a blend of innovation, strategic planning, and a profound understanding of industry dynamics. NYCO, represented in Türkiye by ADCO, stands out as a leading company that excels in these areas.
At SAHA EXPO, International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition, we had a chance to meet Bruno Lamberto, Sales and Marketing Manager – Defence & AGT at NYCO, an expert in the development and manufacture of high-performance lubricants and synthetic ester bases for aeronautics, defence, industry, and automotive. Lamberto shared insights into the current market trends, the company’s recent successes, and its vision for the future. We also delved into how NYCO is navigating challenges and leveraging opportunities to maintain its competitive edge.
NYCO, a company with over 60 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of high-performance lubricants and synthetic esters, supplies sectors such as Defence, Aeronautics, Industry, Automotive, and Aeroderivative Gas Turbines.
Being the only European company to produce turbine engine oil and other lubricants for the Defense and Civil Aviation sectors, it currently exports to over 100 countries, with a team of 300 people located across different countries in Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as the United States, and India.
By being vertically integrated, NYCO ensures higher efficiency in production and rigorous quality control, allowing customers to benefit from exceptional products and world-class technical guidance and support.
NYCO manufactures products such as Turbine Engine Oils, Hydraulic Fluids, Greases, Weapon Oils, and other specialized products, complying with various military and civilian specifications such as MIL-PRF, DCSEA, AIR, DEF STAN, SAE, AIMS, BMS, and others, as well as different NATO Codes.
How do you assess the current market dynamics in Türkiye?
Türkiye’s defence market has seen significant growth, especially over the past 15 years, driven by strong investment in local production and the development of new technologies across various fields. This strategy has led to the emergence of new companies offering products and solutions that add value across the entire supply, production, and life cycle chain of various platforms and components.
Additionally, we cannot forget that Türkiye plays a very active and important role in international geopolitics, and as a result, exports and cooperation with various international companies are also essential for the growth and dynamism of the market.
What significance do the Turkish lubricants market and this event hold for you?
It is evident that, due to its scale and, as previously mentioned, its dynamic nature and growth, the Turkish defence market holds great importance for NYCO.
As an example, the Turkish Air Force is one of the leading operators of F-16 aircraft worldwide, making it a strategically important opportunity for NYCO to provide our products, such as turbine engine oils, hydraulic fluids, and others.
Nonetheless, beyond product sales as an OEM, establishing partnerships and trust with various end users is very important for us. With over 60 years of experience in developing and producing high-performance lubricants and synthetic esters, NYCO aims to utilize this expertise to meet our customers’ current needs while collaborating to shape the future.
Companies such as the TUSAŞ, TEI, BAYKAR, BMC, ASFAT, DEARSAN, or STM are just a few examples of organizations we are currently supporting or where we see significant potential for mutual growth and cooperation.
Participating in these types of events is, first and foremost, an opportunity to promote our brand and, at the same time, to meet new companies and have the chance to discuss various topics that would be more difficult to address in other contexts.
Getting to know our client’s activities and needs in detail is very important, and these types of events are definitely a good opportunity to achieve those objectives.
How would you describe the company’s performance in 2024?
2024 has been a very positive year for NYCO across various sectors such as defence, civil aviation, and industry, thanks to the hard work and commitment of the entire team, as well as our distribution network. The efforts made by NYCO in innovation have also contributed to this success, along with an increasing focus on partnerships with key market players, including OEMs, Ministries of Defence and Industry, operators, MROs, among others.
What are your plans for the future? Could you share NYCO’s vision for 2025?
The first step is to consolidate and maintain the existing markets where we already have a strong presence. NYCO is currently a world leader in military aviation and obviously wants to keep that position not only in 2025 but over the long term.
Continuing to invest in innovation and a comprehensive understanding of our customers’ needs is fundamental for us to be able to advise on the most suitable product for each customer’s requirements, as well as to work in partnership in seeking solutions to future challenges.
Another important aspect is to continue to optimize the supply chain and increase production capacity so that our products can reach different end users more quickly, whether through direct sales or our distribution network.
Will NYCO participate strongly in a major event like SAHA EXPO in 2025?
The Paris Air Show is a very special event for NYCO as we have the opportunity to host various military delegations from around the world, as well as several civil aviation clients and partners. The event will take place from June 16 to 19, 2025, in Paris, and NYCO will be present.
Lastly, which steps does NYCO take to achieve carbon neutrality?
NYCO reinforces its commitment to responsible business practices per its Corporate Social Reponsibility policy with a particular focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With this commitment NYCO has the ambition to meet the international objectives of the Paris Agreement.
In line with its CSR commitments, NYCO has defined a responsible purchasing policy. Purchases being a key pillar of our sustainable development strategy, we require our suppliers and business partners to take part in this initiative. This initiative will allow NYCO to favor collaboration with actors contributing to the creation of a responsible and efficient supply chain. Therefore, aspects linked to business ethics, health, security, environment and carbon footprint will henceforth be taken into consideration when selecting and assessing NYCO’s suppliers.
