The EMEA business region of PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI), a leading lubricants manufacturer, today announces a new partnership with Treedom; the first web-based platform in the world for planting trees remotely and follow the project online and overall, support CO2 emission absorption across the globe. The partnership marks a new milestone in PLI’s sustainability efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
PLI is starting its journey with Treedom at the Unstoppable Heroes – PETRONAS Urania Roadshow, kicking off this summer. The European roadshow will be making its first stop in the UK before travelling to numerous locations across the EU, including Spain, Portugal Italy, Turkey, Romania, and Poland. In an effort to support neutralizing the environmental impact of the carbon emissions produced by the roadshow, and to cement the company’s dedication to its corporate social responsibility, PLI will start by planting 1,000 trees with Treedom in the PETRONAS Urania Forest.
The PETRONAS Urania Roadshow is designed to be as self-sustaining as possible, right down to the PETRONAS Urania product itself. The lubricant is engineered with CO2 reduction in mind, the new PETRONAS Urania 5000 5W-30 maintains a much thinner film compared to conventional 5W-30 oils, significantly reducing fuel consumption and harmful emissions. Altogether, the range meets the strictest international standards for quality and environmental impact.
PLI’s journey to reach its 2050 net zero carbon emission goal is well underway and the Treedom partnership is just one of those steps being taken. Through the collaboration with Treedom, the trees planted will not only contribute to absorbing carbon emissions, but also directly support societal and economic growth of the local communities they are located in, in countries all over the world. Treedom’s trees, including avocado, baobab, lime, tephrosia and coffee, all of which answer numerous Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations. Treedom’s trees contribute to 10 of the 17 goals, including no poverty, zero hunger, responsible consumption and production and decent work and economic growth, to name a few./p>
