Chevron Oronite has introduced its new additive solutions designed for the upcoming API PC-12 heavy-duty engine oil category. The company announced that the new portfolio supports more than 20 licensable industry claims and OEM approvals.
With first licensing scheduled for 1 January 2027, the API PC-12 category represents one of the most significant advancements in heavy-duty engine oil technology in recent years. The new specification is intended to improve fuel efficiency, extend oil drain intervals and provide enhanced protection for modern engines and advanced exhaust aftertreatment systems.
Chevron Oronite’s PC-12 platform has been developed to provide formulation flexibility across a broad range of applications. The portfolio includes two primary additive technologies featuring new dispersant chemistry: OLOA® 59382 (PPD-embedded) and OLOA® 59380 (non-PPD).
According to the company, the new solutions offer broad base oil compatibility for multi-fleet applications, backward compatibility with API CK-4 and earlier categories, and validated performance through extensive engine testing and global field trials.
Emmanuelle Faure-Birchem, Global Product Line Manager at Chevron Oronite, stated that the new platform is designed to help lubricant marketers simplify formulation, improve development flexibility and respond more efficiently to evolving market requirements.
