As one of the global leaders in the lubricants industry, Nynas views sustainability not only as an environmental responsibility but also as a central axis of strategic growth. Güney Devrim İldiri, Nynas General Manager for Turkiye and Central Asia, presented the company’s initiatives toward a low‑carbon future during his speech at the Lubricant Expo Middle East conference program. Sharing insights on Nynas’s bio‑based and circular production systems, İldiri also conveyed his perspectives on the energy transition.
Rather than producing fuel from petroleum, Nynas focuses on deriving long-lasting and reusable products. This approach forms the foundation of innovative solutions that contribute directly to the energy transition. The company has set ambitious targets: reducing emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with bio‑based and circular production systems placed at the core of its strategy.
Speaking at the conference program of Lubricant Expo Middle East event held in Dubai from January 20–22, Güney Devrim İldiri, Nynas General Manager for Turkiye and Central Asia, emphasized the critical role of lubricants in his presentation titled “Innovate, Enable, and Transform for a Low Carbon Future.” He described lubricants and greases as the “silent accelerators” of the energy transition, reducing energy consumption, extending equipment life, and enabling renewable and electrified systems to operate efficiently.
“The energy transition isn’t just about fuels and renewables; it’s also about efficiency at every level,” Güney Devrim İldiri noted. “Lubricants and greases play a critical role in reducing friction, extending equipment life, and improving energy efficiency across industrial systems. Every percentage of efficiency gained means lower emissions and less resource waste. Base oils are equally strategic. Their properties influence not only performance but also sustainability, enabling formulations that support circularity, lower carbon intensity, and compliance with evolving environmental standards. As the industry moves toward a low‑carbon future, these components are enablers of transformation.”
Güney Devrim İldiri, Nynas General Manager for Turkiye and Central Asia, outlined three key pillars of Nynas’s strategy: innovation through R&D investments, enabling greater efficiency in operational processes, and transforming market strategies to align with sustainability priorities. He stressed that the choice of base oils is the most critical determinant of environmental impact, highlighting that specialty base oils and bio‑based feedstocks can significantly reduce lifecycle CO₂ emissions.
The vision shared at the Lubricant Expo Middle East in 2026, recorded as the first global event of the lubricants industry, once again demonstrated that Nynas regards sustainability in the energy sector not only as an environmental responsibility but also as a source of competitive advantage and a core growth strategy.
