The Republic of Türkiye, founded on 29th October 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. With his reforms, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk brought Türkiye to a respected place among the modern states of the world. Supporting the national development initiative, Atatürk lead Türkiye in rebuilding itself with industrial facilities after the destruction and devastations left by the war. Today, Turkish people are grateful to the Republic of Türkiye and its founder Atatürk for the rights and freedoms they have.
The Turkish Republic, which introduced Turkish women to civil and social rights as well as the right to vote and be elected before many other countries, has raised many women who have made Türkiye proud in all areas of life from sports to arts, education to health, academia to business. One of those women is Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, who represents Türkiye in the list of the world’s most successful scientists, and is our guest in this issue with her versatile personality and positive energy.
