60th Issue Is Out Now

The lubricants industry is undergoing yet another stress test, shaped by global developments. The ongoing war in our region has not only economic but also profound humanitarian consequences. Volatility in energy and raw material markets—particularly in base oil prices—directly impacts our sector. Our hope is that this process will end as soon as possible, guided by a perspective that prioritizes people, society, and shared values, and that its effects remain limited both for the world and for our country. Despite all these challenges, we believe our industry will overcome this period by strengthening its resilience.

In this issue, we feature a prominent figure driving transformation in the sector. In our interview with Ms. Nilay Tatlısöz, General Manager of Castrol Türkiye, Ukraine, and Central Asia (TUCA), we discussed Castrol’s achievements in Türkiye and across the region, its sustainability vision, and strategies for next-generation mobility. Even in a stagnant market, the company continues to grow, with its Gemlik production hub, strong dealer network, and innovative product portfolio forming the cornerstones of this success. We sincerely thank Ms. Tatlısöz for her hospitality and the comprehensive insights she shared exclusively with our magazine.

Another highlight of this issue is MAPA, a long-standing representative of our industry, celebrating its 50th anniversary. With half a century of experience, the company has delivered significant projects in energy, defense, and industry. Its strength in distribution, engineering infrastructure, and technical expertise continues to drive sustainable growth with determination. We believe MAPA’s success story will inspire the sector.

This issue also features thought-provoking opinion pieces. Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, in her article “The Two Painful Realities of War and Lubricants”, examines the environmental, social, and economic costs of war from a striking perspective. Meanwhile, Mr. Umut Arslan, in his article “Selecting A Lubricant Supplier: Not Purchase, but Reliability Management”, offers a technical outlook for our industry.

As Lubricant World, we continue to strengthen our presence on digital platforms—through our website, newsletters, and LinkedIn updates—keeping pace with the industry’s pulse. In the upcoming period, we will also be on the ground as a media partner at one of the most important gatherings of our sector: Automechanika Istanbul 2026. Taking place between May 19–22, this major event will allow us to share our impressions, interviews, and key developments with you.
